EPRLF activist injured

A group of pedestrians Tuesday admitted Mr.Selvin, a political activist of the Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front (Varathar wing), to the Jaffna teaching hospital with several injuries sustained Tuesday afternoon at Gurunagar, a suburb of Jaffna town, police said
Initial reports said some unidentified men had attacked him with swords. However, later it was said he sustained injuries when a grenade accidentally exploded when he picked it from the ground, sources in Jaffna said. The true picture of the incident is not known due to contradictory statements made in this regard, the sources said. Mr. Selvin underwent emergency surgery at the Jaffna teaching Hospital and is now reported be out of danger, medical sources said. A native of Batticaloa, Mr. Selvin is said to be a close ally of Subathiran alias Robert, the EPRLF (Varathar wing) deputy leader who was killed recently by a sniper in Jaffna. The Jaffna police commenced an investigation into the incident immediately, sources said
