Norwegian envoy Westborg meets Thamilselvan

Former Norwegian ambassador to Sri Lanka, Mr.Jon Westborg, who is currently a special advisor to the Norwegian government on the peace process in Sri Lanka, Tuesday held wide ranging discussions with the political head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), Mr.S.P.Thamilselvan, at the Kilinochchi political secretariat of the LTTE, Vanni sources said.
The discussion commenced around ten in the morning and lasted for about two
hours, the sources further said. The head of the LTTE’s Peace Secretariat, Mr.Pulithevan, Mr. Tholkappian and Mr. George were associated in the discussion with Mr. Thamilselvan, sources said. Mr. Westborg said after the meeting that his discussion with Thamilselvan was cordial and constructive, sources said. Mr. Thamilselvan said no decision was taken on any issues at the discussion, sources said. Sources in Colombo said that Mr.Westborg's visit to the Vanni was to feel the pulse of the LTTE leaders regarding the proposed interim administrative structure now being drafted by the United National Front government, which is expected to be submitted to the LTTE leadership next week, and to brief them on the Sri Lankan government's stand on the proposed structure.
