The United National Front government of Sri Lanka Thursday announced that the basic
proposals for the proposed interim administrative structure for the
Northeast province are now ready to be sent to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil
Eelam through Norwegian facilitators within the next few days, sources said
Cabinet spokesman, Minister Mr. G.L.Peiris, addressing a press conference
Thursday said that the final draft of the interim administrative structure would
be finalized once the LTTE submitted its response to the UNF government’s basic proposals. Peiris said that the UNF government wanted to take the peace process forward by identifying and eliminating shortcomings in the process. " I am confident that the stalled peace process could be resumed soon," he added.
