LTTE leader pays homage to Lt. Seelan

The leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, Mr. V. Pirapaharan, unveiled a large photo of the late Lt. Seelan (Charles Antony), the first attack commander of the LTTE, and paid his respects by lighting the sacrificial flame, at a specially organized ceremony in a location in the Vanni, sources said.
The twentieth anniversary of Lt. Seelan’s death was observed in the ceremony, headed by Mr. Kandeepan, a member of the LTTE’s Charles Antony brigade. The mother of Lt. Seelan lit the flame and LTTE commanders lit the flames for all the cadres of the Charles Antony brigade who have died in combat so far. Mr. Amitabh of the brigade spoke at the event. Two books were published at the event. The special commander of the Charles Antony brigade, Mr. Nagulan, released a book which was accepted by leader V. Pirapaharan, sources said. Mr. Pirapaharan also accepted the quarterly magazine of the brigade, titled “Agni Veechu -3”, from its editor, Mr. Niresh. The commander of the Charles Antony brigade, Mr.Kobig, delivered the memorial prize of the Charles Antony brigade to the LTTE leader, sources said. The LTTE leader distributed prizes to the LTTE cadres of the brigade who participated in a sports competition in memory of Lt. Seelan and won prizes. Following the event, an arts program was held where a large number of people, including LTTE's commanders, divisional heads and fighting cadres participated, sources said.
