Steps are being taken to relocate about three hundred displaced families from the high security zones in Myliddy and Palaly, who are living elsewhere in the Ilavalai in Valigamam divisions, and in the first phase, thirty families will be resettled, said Hindu Affairs Minister Mr. T. Maheswaran, according to sources in Jaffna.
Each resettled family would be given one hundred thousand rupees, Minister Maheswaran said. However Valigamam civil organizations are of the view that the displaced should be resettled permanently in their own villages removing the high security zones instead of relocating them temporarily elsewhere, sources said Meanwhile, Mr. Maheswaran is scheduled to take over the Cey-Nor factory in Gurunagar in Jaffna under his ministry Wednesday, sources said. According to the sources, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka last week transferred the Cey-Nor factory, which came under the Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Resettlement Ministry, to the Hindu Affairs Ministry.
