Norwegian envoy carries IA proposals to Kilinochchi

Norwegian special peace envoy Mr.Jon Westborg Thursday morning left Colombo
to Killinochchi with Sri Lanka Government's proposals to establish an Interim
Administrative (IA) structure in the northeast province, Cabinet Spokesman and
Constitutional Affairs Minister Mr. G.L.Peiris said duirng his weekly press
briefing in Colombo Thursday, sources said.
Minister Mr.Peiris further that the Government of SriLanka (GoSL) believes the interim
administration proposals sent through the Norwegian special peace envoy to
the LTTE leadership in Killinochchi would provide strong foundation to
carry forward the peace process. The interim administration proposals have been prepared in accordance with
the laws of the land, Minister Mr.Peiris said. Minister Mr.Peiris said that the LTTE leadership should be given more time
to extensively study the proposals in a methodical way to respond, media
sources said. Vanni sources said Mr.Jon Westborg who
arrived Killinochchi Thursday morning immediately held discussion with the
LTTE political head Mr.S.P.Thamilselvan for about forty five minutes and
handed over the proposals to LTTE political head. Thereafter he left Killinohchi to Colombo, Vanni sources said.
