Transit centre for war affected Muttur children

Foundation stone was laid Friday for the transit centre for the protection
and welfare of children under eighteen years affected by war at
Kadatkaraichcenai in the Liberation Tigers held Muttur east in Trincomalee,
sources said.

UNICEF Sri Lanka resident Representative Ms Chris Watkins laid the
foundation stone followed by the Executive Director of the Tamil Rehabilitation
Organization Mr. Reggie, LTTE Trincomalee district political head
Mr.S.Thilak, UNICEF Trincomalee representative Ms Gabrielle Elroy, TRO
Trincomalee district Director Mr.K.Mathavarajah and several leading
citizens of the area, sources said LTTE Trincomalee district women political head Ms Kaaronja hoisted the
Tamileelam national flag. Thereafter they observed two minutes silence for those who
sacrificed their lives in the Tamil liberation struggle, sources said. UNICEF resident representative said that the transit centre to be
constructed will ensure a better and bright future for the war affected
children under eighteen of years of age.

TRO Executive Director Mr. Reggie said that no politics should be
introduced in the working of the transit centre constructed to look after
the protection and welfare of the war affected children. Mr.Thilak, Mr.K.Mathavarajah, Ms Kaaronja
and several others also spoke.
