Four Indian fishermen arrested in Sri Lankan waters on March 6 were produced at the High court in Jaffna Friday, and were further remanded till August 6 by the High Court Judge, Mr. K.P.Varatharajah, court sources in Jaffna said.
The four fishermen from India, M. Sundar, A.Rajabhanu, K.Sivananthan and A. Chandran, have been engaged in a protest fast campaign at their prison since July 28, demanding their release, and prison sources said that the four had threatened prison officials. On August 6, attorneys arranged by the Indian High-commission in Colombo will appear at the court to represent the Indian detainees, sources said.
