Owners of paddy lands in HSZ to meet

Owners of the paddy lands ocated in the High Security Zone of Thenmaradchchi in the Jaffna district and released by the Sri Lanka Army for cultivation last week, will meet on August 7 at the office of the Kaithady Divisional Agrarian Office to decide on the next course of action, civil sources said.
The Thenmaradchchi Divisional Secretary, Mr. K.Srinivasan, Agrarian Services Assistant Commissioner, Mr.K.Suntharesan, and SLA civil administrative officers will attend the discussion, sources said. Meanwhile, several civil groups in the Thenmaradchchi division have
requested the authorities concerned to take immediate steps to release
about five thousand acres of paddy fields and three thousand coconut lands
from the high security zone to be resettled by the displaced persons, civil
sources said. The SLA last week informed civil officials that it had released about one thousand acres of abandoned paddy fields, sources said.
