LTTE, Sri Lanka Police meet in Kalmunai

Members of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and officers of Sri Lanka Police met in Kalmunai at 5pm yesterday at the Deputy Police Commissioner’s office to review the tense situation prevailing in Kalmunai and to formulate solutions to de-escalate tensions in the area, security sources said.
Priyantha Peiris, I. Nazeer and N.Jameer from Sri Lanka Police force, LTTE’s Amparai district political head Bava, Kalmunai district political head Rajkumar, members of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM), members of the Human Rights Commission and muslim clerics participated in the meeting. The discussions also centered on establishing a committee comprising Sri Lanka Police officers and officials of the LTTE to investigate into the disappearances in the area, and to limit meetings and other activities that can lead to worsening tension within the communities, sources said.
