Three soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) were questioned by their superiors
Wednesday on a complaint that one soldier had molested a tamil woman who is a mother of two
Tuesday night when she was alone while her husband was away. This incident took place Tuesday night at Inbaruty, a fishing hamlet in
Vadamarachchi north in Jaffna district, police said.
The said soldier had stealthily entered the house of the woman on Tuesday
night and tried to rape her. She had overpowered the soldier and started
assaulting him with available implements she had in her house. The soldier had to flee from the area and seek refuge in his camp when a group
of youth went after the soldier, civil sources said. The woman accompanied by some residents registered a complaint with the SLA
superiors serving in the area Wednesday. SLA officials immediately visited
the scene and took three soldiers in a checkpoint near the house of the
woman for questioning, sources said.
