Batticaloa weekly celebrates 25th publication

The Eastern Journalists' Union organized a research conference Saturday at the Batticaloa Devanayagam Co-operative Arts Theatre to celebrate the 25th publication of 'Thamil Alai (Tamil Wave),' a weekly published from Kokadichcholai in Batticaloa district.
In the event presided by the President of Eastern Journalists' Union, Ira. Thurairetnam, Editor of publication 'Sari Nigar' P. Sivakumar, Head of the Economic Department of the Eastern University K. Thambiah, and a popular Tamil journalist D. Sivaram gave speeches on research topics associated with journalism and print media. Secretary of the Eastern Journalists' Union, Shan. Thavarajah gave vote of thanks at the conclusion of the event. Thamil Alai which is printed and published from Kokadichcholai, an area controlled by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) will change to a daily starting from Monday, sources said.
