IA shouldn’t erode Tamil sovereignty- CTTU

The branch of the Ceylon Tamil Teachers Union (CTTU) in Mullaithivu Wednesday evening urged the leader of the Liberation Tigers, Mr. Velupillai Pirapaharan, to secure an interim administration for the northeast ‘without giving up even in least measure’ the Tamil nation’s sovereignty.’ In a memorandum addressed to the LTTE leader, the Mullaithivu CTTU said: “Law and order should be under the interim administration to safeguard our sovereignty."
The proposed Interim Administration should have power over land, security, finance, judiciary and education, according to the Mullaithivu CTTU memorandum. “The Tamils should be granted the right of self-determination. We need powers over land to achieve optimum utilisation of our natural resources,” the CTTU said. “Education too should be under the proposed IA so that we would be free to develop our system and raise the resources and manpower for running it efficiently." A similar memorandum on the IA was addressed to the LTTE leader last week by school principals in the Thenmaradchi Division of Jaffna last week.
