Educational Development Forum for the Vadamaradchi Zone (EDFVZ) in the Jaffna district has been inaugurated to raise the standard of education in the zone and to put into maximum use the available teaching resources and to provide proper training to teachers, education sources said.

Nineteen schools are functioning in the Vadamaradchi zone with about 27 thousand students and about 1050 teachers. Four schools are still under closure following military operations in the past.
