The body of a youth found at the Trincomalee beach Tuesday morning close to Fort Frederick had been identified as that of an LTTE cadre, Mr. Nanthan, who was on leave from the Vanni recently. The postmortem examination held at the Trincomalee general hospital revealed that he had
been strangled to death, medical sources said.
Mr. Nanthan had gone to the beach Monday to relax and was later reported missing. The next morning his body had been found in the beach, Police said. The Sinha Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army is located at Fort Frederick. The LTTE took the body to Sampur in the LTTE held Muttur east area and buried in the Alankulam Hero's cemetery. A large number of LTTE cadres and military commanders participated at the funeral held at Sampur Thursday morning before the burial, said the Trincomalee political
division of the LTTE.
