Lt.Col.Jeevan's second anniversary commemorated

The second anniversary of the death of Lt.Col.Jeevan and seven Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) fighters who were killed during a battle with Sri Lanka Army (SLA) near Batticaloa-Colombo road in Vakneri on 6 December 2001 was celebrated in three locations in LTTE controlled areas in Batticaloa district Saturday.
In Illupadichenai, Batticaloa-Amparai LTTE Head of Political Section, E. Kausalyan participated in the ceremony held near the Jeevan Memorial built last year at the Chenkaladi-Badulla road junction. LTTE Commanders, Jim Kelly Thatha and Nagesh, took part in the memorial event held in Thihilivettai, Batticaloa district. In Vakarai, the commemorative event started with an opening ceremony for a newly erected memorial. LTTE Military Commander for Aandankulam, Markan, and Head of the Political Section, Thothiran, participated in the celebrations. Lt.Col.Jeevan successfully led attacks on several SLA camps and was instrumental in capturing significant amount of assault weapons from these camps, sources close to the LTTE said.
