The Central Committee meeting of the Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) scheduled to be held in Amparai on the 14 December is against the Party's constitution, said Anandasangaree the 'past' president of TULF who was the subject of a no-confidence motion that passed successfully on 30 November in a TULF meeting held in Colombo, media reports said. Anandasangaree, however, has rejected the validity of the voting procedure that dislodged him from his post.
In a letter to the Secretary General of the TULF, R. Sampanthan, Sangaree said, "Article 16.5 of TULF's constituition stipulates that the Secretary General has the duty to consult the President in making decisions on important affairs of the Party, including holding Central Committe Meetings. "Since you have not consulted me on holding the forthcoming meeting in Amparai at Parliamentarian ChandraNehru's residence, the information on which I have learnt from media reports, the meeting is illegal and is against the Party's constitution. "I urge you to refrain from holding the planned meeting. I will be willing to discuss with you on the suitability of an alternative date and venue for such a meeting," the letter added.
