The Voice of Tigers (VoT) said in its night's broadcast yesterday that in the early hours of yesterday morning, around 2.10 a.m., the Liberation Tigers overran and brought under their full control the Pachchnoor police camp, in an attack which lasted only 10 minutes.

At least 3 policemen were killed while the rest took to their heels, the radio said. The radio also said that the Liberation Tigers did not suffer any casualties.

The VoT gave the list of the weapons that were captured:

60 mm. mortar - 01, 60 mm shells - 38, T-56 assault rifles - 05, medium rounds - 1731, MD-20 pistol - 01, hand paralight - 07, Communication set - 01 and power generator - 01.

Many other goods were also recovered from the Police camp, said the radio.

Meanwhile, police sources in Trincomalee said yesterday that there were around 60 armed policemen in the camp who were trained for the combat duties, at the time the attack took place. Most of them had, however, runaway and are unaccounted for and that the Pachchnoor police post has been completely burnt down.
