Trincomalee combats spread of Dengue fever

Trincomalee district health authorities Thursday warned the people of the
district through loudhailers to take precautionary methods to prevent
dengue fever. Four members of the Sri Lanka Navy located inside the naval
dockyard have been detected with symptoms of dengue fever, said an official
of the Department of Health in east port town.
Several patients affected by dengue fever in the divisions of Kantalai,
Kinniya, Chinabay and Trincomalee town and gravets have been detected,
health sources said. Health authorities have alerted divisional officials to take immediate
steps to arrest the spread of dengue fever in their areas
Dengue fever is spread by mosquitoes, which bite people in the early
mornings and late evenings. A special form of smoke is required to prevent
this type of mosquito menace, sources said.
