"Harsini's demise irreparable loss to women liberation"

North East Provincial Ministry of Education, Cultural Affairs, Sports and Youth Affairs Saturday said that the untimely death of Trincomalee leading women rights activist Miss Harsini Antonysamy was "an irreparable loss to
women liberation movement in the NorthEast province."
The funeral of Miss Harsini Antonysamy is scheduled to take place Sunday
morning at the Trincomalee Catholic cemetery. Miss Harsini died on Friday
and her body was brought to Trincomalee on Saturday, sources said. Mr.K.Sithambaranathan, Director of the Theatre Action Group and the head of
the Fine Arts Department of the Jaffna University with several active
members of his group from other parts of the northeast province including,
Jaffna, Vavuniya, Batticaloa and Colombo arrived in Trincomalee to attend
the funeral of Miss Harsini. Harsini has rendered a valuable service in taking
forward the struggle of Tamil women against oppression and suppression
during the war situation, human rights sources said. The Trincomalee District Youth Development House in its condolence message
said the Tamil women in the NorthEast province will remember Miss Harsini for her valiant struggle against atrocities committed by
the state armed forces.

playing a leading role in support of the oppressed people and against
suppression of women rights. She dedicated herself for the struggle of
achieving self-determination rights of Tamils in the northeast province, the Group further said.
