LTTE finance division forms Price Regulatory Authority

The Finance Division of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam has formed a Price Regulatory Authority to protect customers
against sudden increases in price of consumer goods, tamil media reportes from Jaffna said Saturday.
NorthEast merchants and traders have often pointed to the taxes levied on consumer goods to mark up the prices of these items. Practice of increasing prices of goods that are not subjected to taxation has also been on the increase, sources said. The Price Regulatory Authority released the names of goods that should have fixed prices and requested the price list to be displayed in shops and businesses. Medicines, Health care items, books, batteries, bicylce tires,
cement, tools, school items were included in the items that are subjected to price control, local reports said.
