ADB gives 30 m rupees to Jaffna fishermen

The Asian Development Bank Saturday disbursed thirty million rupees to eighteen fishermen's societies on Jaffna's Vadamaradchi coast. The function to hand over the ADB fund cheques was held Saturday at the office of the Sea Tigers in Maruthankerni, on the peninsula's southeastern coast.
The ADB's country director, Mr. John Cooney and the first secretary of the Netherlands Embassy in Colombo, Mr. Jan Huesken, addressed the function.
Mr. M. Mangales, senior commander of the Sea Tigers, presided.
''Sinhala chauvinist forces are bent on oppoing peace. The international community should urge Sinhala political leaders to resume the peace process'', said Mr. Maravan Master, a senior publoc relations official of the Sea Tigers, in his address to the meeting.
