Sri Lanka PM cancells visit to Thailand

Sri Lanka's Prime Minister, Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe, cancelled his scheduled visit to Thailand on Monday after President Chandrika Kumaratunga dissolved Parliament Saturday midnight.

''The ruling United National Front government was caught off its guard, opposition sources said. The UNF expected that external pressure on President Kumaratunga would prevent her from dissolving Parliament now'', an opposition spokesman said Sunday morning.
