TULF leaders' appeal in Sangaree case to be heard Thursday

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 17 February 2004, 20:19 GMT]
The appeal filed by the Secretary General and Senior Vice President of the Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) Mr.R.Sampanthan and Mr.Jospeh Pararajasingham respectively against the interim injunction issued by the Colombo District Court in favour of the TULF President Mr. V.Anandasangaree is listed for inquiry in the Court of Appeal (CA) on Thursday, legal sources said.

Mr.Sampanthan and Mr.Jospeh Pararajasingham have prayed in their appeal to set aside the interim injunction of the Colombo District Court, as it was illegal and contrary to the law, legal sources said.

On further submission made by Mr.Anandasangaree the Colombo District Court on February 11 extended its enjoining order issued in December last year to an interim injunction preventing Mr.Sampanthan and Mr.Jospeh Pararajasingham from convening the central working committee and the general council of the TULF without prior permission of Mr.Anandasangaree and also from conducting party activities without consulting party president, legal sources said.

Mr.Sampanthan and Mr.Joseph Pararajasingham filed an appeal in the Court of Appeal Monday seeking to vacate the interim injunction order made by the Colombo District Court against them, legal sources said.
