Glowing tribute paid to retiring principal Sister Madutheen[TamilNet, Saturday, 28 February 2004, 13:11 GMT]Parents, students, leading citizens, educationists, politicians and peoples of all walks of life Saturday assembled at the Vavuniya-Irambaikulam Girls Maha Vidiyalayam to bid farewell to Sister M.M.Jude Madutheen who retired after serving fifteen years as Principal of the institution, sources in Vavuniya said.
Former parliamentarians Messrs Siddharthan, Sivasakthi Anandan, LTTE Vavuniya district political head Mr.Elilan and leading members of the teaching community who were present at the event praised Sister Jude Madutheen for the invaluable services she rendered to the student community and Vavuniya education in general, sources said. Mr.Illancheliyan compared Sister Madutheen services to teaching profession on par with the services of late Mr.K. Poornampillai as Principal of the Point Pedro Hartley College, one of the leading educational institutions in the Jaffna district.
Sister Madutheen who was born in Mandaithivu in Jaffna district. Sister Madutheen joined the teaching profession in the year 1969 as a teacher in the Jaffna Family Convent. She passed out as a graduate in 1963 and later she obtained Diploma in Education in the University of Colombo in 1975. Since 1989 she had been working as Grade One Principal in Vavuniya Irambaikulam Girls Maha Vidiyalayam till her retirement.
