Thilak slams SLBC over Pathuman story

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 09 March 2004, 09:53 GMT]
The news that LTTE Trincomalee district military commander Colonel Pathuman has been killed in Vanni is a canard to create panic and confusion among Tamil people by some interested parties, LTTE Trincomalee district political head Mr.S.Thilak told TamilNet Tuesday afternoon. The State run Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) in its noon news broadcast in all three media reported that Trincomalee LTTE military commander Colonel Pathuman had been killed in Vanni.

Mr.Thilak speaking to TamilNet from Muttur east said the SLBC report is untrue, malicious and mischievous and has been spread in a planned way to create confusion among Tamils.

He appealed to Tamils "not to believe such reports, which have been spread, with ulterior motive".

"Colonel Pathuman has gone to Vanni to meet our national leader as a part of his routine visit once in three months", Mr.Thilak said.
