The Eastern University’s annual convocation will be held at the Swami Vipulananda School for Music and Dance on June 5, according to Mr. A.D. Harris, the Registrar of the university.
The Convocation was postponed twice as a result of the tense situation that prevailed in the district following the revolt in the Liberation Tigers by a group headed by Mr. Vinayagamoorthy Muraleetharan (‘Karuna’). The decision to hold the convocation on June 5 was made at a meeting of the senate committee of the university Wednesday, the Registrar said. Meanwhile, according to the Registrar, lectures will start on June 7 for the first year undergraduates and on June 14 for senior students.
