Vattrapalai temple braces for high devotee turnout

Thousands of hindu devotees from different parts of Northeast are expected to attend the annual Pongal festival at Vattrapalai Kannaki Amman temple in Mullaitivu district on the 31st of this month, local media said quoting temple sources.

In a meeting presided by the Mullaitivu Government Agent Ms.Emelda Sugumar and attended by District officers and temple administrators recently, it was decided to make necessary arrangements to have the Muhamalai and Omanthai check points open twenty four hours on the 30th and 31st of this month to enable devotees easy access to the temple site.

Temple administration has also announced that between 19 to 26th of this month, they will be taking registrations from traders who are planning to setup stalls near the temple during the festival days.
