The current 10 percent tax imposed on outboard motor engines and fishing gear brought to Thamileelam has been completely removed as an incentive to the development of the fisheries industry, said Mr. S.Thamilenthi, head of the Financial Division, at a press briefing held Wednesday at the Revenue Secretariat of the LTTE, sources said.

Mr. Thamilenthi further said the price control would be strictly enforced in Thamileelam area with effect from May 15th.

He added that about 4460 acres of coconut plantation now being under the management of the LTTE in the Vanni region would be handed over to representatives of the owners who now live abroad for better maintenance including re-planting, sources said.
