The SLA's Jaffna Town commander Brig. Susantha Mendis, summoned yesterday all department heads, (of semi government concerns) bank officials and others in Jaffna town and its suburbs to a meeting at Jaffna Kachcheri on Friday at 9 a.m.. The meeting is believed to have been called to discuss growing LTTE influence into all levels of public life in Jaffna, said sources.
The Sri Lankan security forces headquarters at Palaly, in Jaffna, issued a press note last week warning government officials and businessmen in the peninsula who provide assistance to the Liberation Tigers and take instructions from them. The SLA warned that it will be compelled to take action against those who are violating its orders.
