The Tellipalai Mahajana College, the Tellipalai Union College and the Vasaavilaan Maththiya Mahaviththiyalayam will not be permitted to move into their former premises as these are located in a very high security zone stated Sri Lanka's Deputy Minister for Defence, Gen. Anuruddha Ratwatte categorically on Wednesday.
Gen. Ratwatte made his statement in a meeting with the chairman of the Waligamam north Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) Mr. Sri Paaskaran held when he visited the Palaly SLA base complex. Mr. Sri Paaskaran was elected to his post on the TULF ticket. However, the minister had promised to build the schools in other areas during his campaign. The Tellipalai Mahajana College, the Tellipalai Union College and the Vasaavilaan Maththiya Mahaviththiyalayam were among the leading schools of Jaffna. More than eighty percent of the area of the Waligamam North Pradeshiya Sabha is in the high security zone of the Palaly SLA base complex.
