Trinco Inner Wheel Club honours students excelled in A/L exam

The Inner Wheel Club of Trincomalee at its second anniversary held at the
Trincomalee Rotary House honoured fifteen students from Trincomalee town
schools who have passed the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination with three
A's.
One of the fifteen students S.Kokilan of Trincomalee Orr's Hill
Vivekandanda College scored highest marks in Commerce stream in the island
in Tamil medium. He scored second highest marks among the Sinhalese and
Tamil medium students in the island in the same examination.

At this event Ms Ranjana Thirumugam was installed as the second President
of the Trincomalee Inner Wheel Club. Outgoing President Ms Latha
Thirkumaranathan handed over the position to Ms Ranjana Thirumugam. The Chief Guest at the occasion was Mr.C. Nadarajah, former registrar of
the East University and the Technical Advisor of the Teacher in-Service
project of the German Technical Co-operation (GTZ). Ms Latha Thirkumaranathan said in her speech that the Inner Wheel Club has
provided financial assistance to more than twenty war-widows selected from
various villages in the Trincomalee under the project ‘Self-Employment
Assistance to Trinco Widows’ with the donation of one thousand Sterling
Pounds from the Medical Institute of Tamils, South Thames region, London.
She thanked Dr.K.Chandradeva now settled in London for making this venture
a success. Nine students from Trincomalee Koneswara Hindu College, three from Sri
Shanmuga Hindu Ladies College, two from Orr's Hill Vivekananda College and
one from St.Mary's Girls College passed the GCE A/L/ exam with three A's.
This was the first time record number of fifteen students in Trincomalee
town schools obtained three A's, education sources said.
