Tamil Students Federation HQ opened in Jaffna

The headquarters of the Tamil Students Federation (TSF) was opened in Jaffna Monday morning. The headquarters is located along Kovil Road in Nallur."The headquarters will bring to the notice of the international community the violations of fundamental and human rights of Tamil students in the northeast," said Mr. P.Nilakshan, President of the TSF presiding over the event.
Jaffna University Vice Chancellor, Professor C.Mohanadas unveiled the name board of the headquarters. Rev.Fr.Karunairetnam of the Human Rights Commission of Tamileelam declared open the building. Speaking at the event Professor C.Mohanadas said about 45 to 50 schools are still being occupied in the security zones of the Jaffna district. Students in Jaffna district and Vanni regions are still not enjoying the benefits of the new educational reforms. Jaffna students who came first in the island in their studies competing other districts are now fighting to achieve district level performances in competitive examinations, he lamented. Thamileelam Students Organisation Head Mr. Nalan hoisted Thamileelam National Flag and TSF President Mr.Nilakshan hoisted TSF flag. TSF Secretary Mr.Archchuna and Mr.Kannan, Head of the International Thamileelam Students Federation lit the common flame of sacrifice. Monitors of Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) visited the site on receipt of information that Tiger Flag had been hoisted in violation of the ceasefire agreement but they withdrew on being informed that the site where the flag was hoisted was a private land, sources said.
