Several decomposed and unidentified bodies washed ashore on the islands off Jaffna last week. Sources said that all of them were those of youth. One was washed ashore last Monday, April 6, at Nainathivu, and another the following day at Analaithivu and a third one was washed ashore at Nedunthivu (Delft) on April 8 Wednesday. The cause of death is not known as the bodies were highly decomposed.
Meanwhile, the body of a young man from Manthivil between 20-25 years of age, was handed over to the Jaffna hospital this afternoon by Sri Lankan Police in Kodikamam. The youth had gun shot wounds in his head, chest and left leg. Sources said the body is suspected to be that of a Liberation Tiger who was killed in a confrontation with the Sri Lankan army at Manthivil in the Thenmaradchi sector of Jaffna.
