Presidential advisor to visit Jaffna Monday

Mr.Harim Peiris, Presidential media spokesman and an advisor to Ministry of
Refugees Resettlement and Rehabilitation is to pay a second visit to
Jaffna district on Monday September 13 to assess the progress in the
resettlement and rehabilitation process, district secretariat sources said.
He would visit the sites where renovation work on destroyed bridges are
taking place and to the Navatkuli housing scheme, sources said. Later in afternoon he is scheduled to address the local heads of government
departments, state corporations and representatives of several civil
organization at the Jaffna district secretariat, sources said. Renovation work on several war-destroyed bridges including Kaithady Bridge, Chemmani
Bridge on Jaffna-Kandy road have already begun. Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka
Army has given permission to the relevant authorities to remove buried
landmines located in the sites where damaged bridges are under renovation,
sources said.
