Tamil Language Festival to be held in Trinco

North East Provincial Tamil Language Festival for Tamil medium schools
in the province is to be held on September 18 and 19 in Trincomalee
St.Mary's College Theresa Auditorium. Provincial Folkdance Festival will be held on the first day and Tamil Language Festival on the second day, provincial ministry of education
officials said.
Mr. N.Nadarajah, Head of the Tamil Language Unit in the Ministry of
Education in Colombo will participate as the chief guest on the first day
and Mr.R.Thiagalingam, Provincial Secretary to Ministry of Education and
Cultural Affairs as chief guest on the second day. Students who won the first three places in each competition held in zonal
level Tamil Language competitions will participate in the final
competitions, which are scheduled to be held on the mornings of Saturday
and Sunday in Trincomalee. There are 25 education zones in the northeast
province, education ministry sources said. Students who win first place in each competition in provincial level will
be allowed to participate in the All Island Tamil Language Day competition
and festival which is to be held in Colombo on a later date organized by
the Ministry of Education. Twelve member organizing committee headed by Provincial Director of
Education Mr.R.Visahalingam is in charge of organizing the festival.
