SLA-LTTE delegations meet in Jaffna

Representatives of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and Sri Lanka Army
(SLA) Thursday morning met at the Jaffna office of the Sri Lanka Monitoring
Mission
(SLMM), security sources said. Major General Sunil Tennekon met with the Jaffna LTTE leaders
for the first time after he assumed duties as the Jaffna area commander.
SLMM Jaffna head Ms Anita Strandberg presided over the discussion. SLA delegation was led by Jaffna area commander Major General Sunil
Tennekoon.The other members of the delegation were Colonel Ranawela, Deputy
Commander of the SLA in Jaffna, Jaffna district Police Superintendent Mr
Daya Seneviratne, Sri Lanka Navy's Jaffna Deputy Commanding Officer
Ranasinghe and Karainagar SLN officer N.Premaretna. Jaffna district LTTE's political head Mr.C.Ilamparithi led LTTE delegation.
Other members of the LTTE delegation were Mr.Elilanban, Head of the Jaffna
District Students Division, LTTE media spokesman Mr.Imayavan and LTTE
political activist Mr.Suthas. Both parties said after the discussion that talks were constructive and several routine matters were discussed. Talks which started at 11 am lasted for an hour, sources said.
