TRO sponsored Children's Week begins in NorthEast

The Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) in collaboration with Pre-School Educational Development Council (PSEDC) has declared week beginning Monday, 27 September, as Children's Week in all eight districts of the North-East province, to mark the International Children's' Day that falls on October 1st, sources said.

Arrangements are being made to conduct the Children's Week celebrations at district level and the main event in Killinochchi on October 1st, according to TRO sources. A shramadana (volunteer work) campaign was conducted in
all pre-schools in the province. Development work will be carried out in selected pre-schools in the eight districts on Tuesday according to the plan made up for Children's Week. Tree planting will be held on Wednesday and sport meets will be held on Thursday, TRO sources said. At a special event scheduled to be held on October 1st in the capital towns of all the eight districts, Jaffna, Killinochchi, Mullaitivu, Mannar, Vavuniya, Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Amparai, pre-school children will be taken in a procession with band music and would be honored, TRO sources said.
