Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is to inaugurate district level political awareness campaign in the northeast province next week, said TNA parliamentary group leader and Trincomalee district parliamentarian Mr.R.Sampanthan. The three-day campaign will be inaugurated in Trincomalee district on October 16 with a public rally in Trincomalee town, TNA sources said.

The TNA sponsored political awareness campaign was first fixed to be held in August and later in September. Both times the event was postponed, TNA sources said.

On the first day TNA parliamentarians are expected to meet representatives of Muslim community in Trincomalee town to brief them on TNA's position on political matters affecting Tamil and Muslim communities. TNA leaders would also use the opportunity to obtain the Muslim community's views, TNA sources said.

All 22 TNA parliamentarians will tour the district for three days till October 18 holding discussions with local community leaders and educating Trincomalee residents about the current political situation in Sri Lanka and the urgent need to establish the Interim Self-Governing Authority (ISGA) proposed by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, sources said.

The second day TNA parliamentarians will tour the north of Trincomalee district up to Pulmoddai and would attend seminars and will hold a public meeting in Nilaveli organized by local community.

Another group would tour the villages south of the district through Kinniya and would meet representatives of local community to discuss their problems, TNA sources said.

TNA parliamentarians would go to Muttur east and villages in the down south of the district on the final day of the campaign, TNA sources said.
