Pt. Pedro UC should turn in keys daily, orders SLA

The Sri Lanka Police (SLA) has ordered the Point Pedro Urban Council (UC) authorities to hand over their office keys to the Police Station which is located inside the high security zone daily in the evening and take back next morning. The headquarters of the 524 Brigade of the SLA is also located inside the HSZ, sources said.

The SLA has asked the UC authorities to adhere this procedure strictly, local government sources said.

The restriction imposed by the SLA has caused difficulties for the employees of the UC to report for work in time and to discharge their duties, sources said.

UC sources said employees are forced to wait for hours outside the police station to get their keys.

UC Secretary Ms Thiruchelvam has said she is not a position to help her employees in this regard.
