Trincomalee Music, Dance School holds annual festival

The fine arts institution, ‘Isai Nadana Kalalayam’ of Sri Muthucumaraswami Thevasthanam in Trincomalee held its annual Cultural Festival at the Muthukumaraswami Temple, Wednesday.

’Isai Nadana Kalalayam’ conducts courses in vocal, violin, Thavil (Drum), Veena, Flute, Miruthangam, Nathaswaram, Thabela and Bharata Natyam free of charge. About three hundred students have passed out as qualified musicians in all fields, sources said.

Mr.R.Thiakalingam, Provincial Secretary of Ministry for education, Cultural Affairs, Sports and Youths was the chief-guest.

The guests were Ms Rajeswary Thedchanamoorthy, former Principal of Vipulananda Music and Dance College located in Batticaloa, Trincomalee Zonal Director of Education Mr.K.Thilakaretnam, Ms Kamala Sivasithambaram, Provincial Secretary for Public Administration Ministry and UNICEF Trincomalee head Ms Gabriella Elroy.

A souvenir was also released.

In conclusion Ms Vijeyakumary Thavasilingam, Secretary of the institution honoured all teachers serving in the institution.
