Sinhala pre-school teachers join TRO's scheme

Twenty two pre-school teachers from eleven schools in the Gomarankadawela division of the Trincomalee district Sunday arrived at the office of Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) to join the scheme of the Pre School Educational Development Council (PSEDC), which has its headquarters in Killinochchi, TRO sources said. Gomarankadawela is a traditional Sinhalese village in the
east port district.

At the last International Teachers Day celebration held in Trincomalee pre-school teachers from all communities were
honoured with certificates and awarded prizes. Sinhala pre-school teachers from all Sinhala schools except from Gomarankadawela division, north of the
district participated in the event.

Gomarankadawela division Sinhala pre-school teachers did not attend the occasion, as they did not receive
their invitation in time, sources said. The teachers arrived in Trincomalee on Sunday and met with the Trincomalee District Director of TRO Mr.Kiruba at the TRO office and expressed their willingness to serve within the PSEDC scheme of the TRO in future as they felt the TRO and PSEDC are serving pre-schoolchildren and teachers of all communities effectively, sources said.

Ms Dhammika Priyadharshini Tennekoon, a pre-school teacher said, "We are glad to join the pre-school development of the PSEDC under the TRO as it serves children of all communities without any differences. We will discharge our duties according to the rules and regulations of the PSEDC." Mr.Kiruba briefed the Sinhala pre-school teachers about the PSEDC policy on pre-school development in the northeast province.
