NE provincial education ministry holds Ifthar day event

Northeast Provincial Education, Cultural Affairs and Sports Ministry held Ifthar, an important day in the month Ramzan fast Thursday evening at the auditorium of the ministry. Mr.Maruthoor A.Majeed, Assistant Director of Cultural Affairs (Muslim Unit) presided. The Muslim Cultural Unit organized the event.

Mr.Thiagalinkam donating a consignment of dates to Mr.Maruthoor.
Mr.Thiagalinkam, provincial education secretary was the chief guest. Mr.M.K.M.Haniffa, Senior Assistant Secretary, Ms N.Srithevi, Assistant Director of Cultural Affairs (Tamil) and Mr.D.W.U.Welikala, Assistant Director of Cultural Affairs (Sinhala) were the special guests. Moulavi A.J.M.Riyas and Mr.R.Sivanandan, Senior Assistant Secretary of Education Ministry made keynote addresses.

Speakers urged both Tamil and Muslim communities to live peacefully in the province safeguarding their identity and traditional culture.

Earlier in the morning Mr.Thiagalinkam donated a consignment of dates to Mr.Maruthoor Majeed to be distributed to Muslim people.
