Funeral held for Trinco Tamil Scholar

The demise of veteran Tamil scholar Mr.R.Vadivelu at this critical juncture is an irreparable loss to the Tamils in the Trincomalee district, said Mr.R.Sampanthan, Trincomalee district parliamentarian, when giving the eulogy at his funeral cermony held Saturday evening. Later the remains of late scholar were taken to Trincomalee Hindu cemetery in a procession and cremated.
Mr.R.Sampanthan further said an appropriate memorial should be established to protect the literary works of the late Tamil scholar who had authored several research books on Tamils' history in Trincomalee district and several other creative works. At the condolence meeting held at the residence of late Mr.Vadivelu several leading citizens eulogized the achievements and services he made in the field of research on Trincomalee history and propagating religious teachings. Octogenarian Mr.P.Kandiah who is fondly called as Gandhi Master said an era has come to an end with the death of Mr.Vadivelu in the development of Tamil language, its literature and Hinduism in Trincomalee district.
