TRO organizes Pre-School teacher training in NorthEast

Tamils Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) is conducting training programmes to pre school teachers and pre school development coordinators jointly with Forut and SCiSL throughout NorthEast covering all the communities through a bottom up organization, Pre-School Education Development Centre, TRO sources said.

Phase I for the training to 139 Pre school development coordinators that includes 20 from Sinhala areas with 3 sessions for 20 days ended recently with the exposure tour of Sinhala trainees to Jaffna and Ampara and Batticaloa Tamil and Muslim trainees to Vavuniya and Kilinochchi, sources in Jaffna said.

Jaffna, Vanni and Trincomalee trainees visited the pre schools in Anuradhapura. 35 participants – 28 Tamil and Muslim and 7 Sinhalese will join in the Colombo exposure to be held on 23 – 25th Novermber, 2004.

Phase II of the training with 2 sessions of 12 days will be held in February to June, 2005. This training programme is co funded by Forut and TRO. The trained pre school development coordinators will be formed into a pool of resource persons and give training to the pre school teachers.

Pre school teachers training programme for 16 days has now started with the conduct of baseline survey in selected pre schools in Mannar, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu and Jaffna districts. This will cover 1876 teachers and go on throughout the year 2005.. This programme is being done with the funding of SCiSL and TRO.

In 2005 the 16 days training to 1312 pre school teachers covering Vavuniya and Batticaloa districts will be conducted using joint funding by Forut and TRO. Monitoring of the quality conduct of pre school teachers training will be done by TRO, PSEDC, Forut and SCiSL jointly and separately.

Negotiations are going on by TRO with other international organizations to provide training to pre school teachers in Trincomale and Ampara districts, TRO sources said.
