Oldest nursery graduates Kindergarten students

Little King Nursery, a leading private pre-school in Trincomalee town and founded in 1971 held its first graduation ceremony, a novel event for children entering Year-1 in Government schools next year at the Trincomalee Methodist Girls College Sunday. The event was organized under the patronage of Rev.Fr.George Dissanayake, Parish Priest of the Trincomalee St.Mary's Cathedral, and the guest of honour was Ms Michell Perera, Teacher-in-charge of Police Pre-School in Trincomalee.

The chief guest, Ms Sharmila Thanaraj, an old girl of the nursery thirty years ago, now holds the post of Assistant Divisional Secretary of Kiran division in Batticaloa district

Ms Euprasia Balthazaar is the head of Little King Nursery, which is registered with the Pre-School Education Development Council (PSEDC), which has its headquarters in Killinochchi. According to PSEDC sources, Little King Nursery is the oldest private pre-school in the northeast province.

Ms Euprasia Balthazaar (63) founded the nursery with twenty children in 1971 and now more than hundred children attend the nursery.

Rev.Fr George Dissanayake made an appeal to education authorities that are responsible for the pre-school education in the province to take steps to recognize Ms Euprasia Balthazaar for her commitment and devotion for the development pre-school education in the district amid several difficulties for more than three decades.
