Sampoor exhibition marks Heroes' Day celebrations

Three-day Heroes' Day celebrations and an exhibition on the history of LTTE warfare were inaugurated in Sampoor Maha Vidiyalayam Thursday morning. A model airbase and Sea Tiger base were included as part of the exhibition, sources said.

Mr.Vasanthan, deputy head of the Trincomalee district LTTE military wing, lit the common flame of sacrifice and Mr.Sri ram, Head of the Eastern District Sea Tigers, hoisted the Thamileelam National Flag. Ms Manges, Sea Tigers Women Wing activist, lit the flame of sacrifice to the photograph of first LTTE martyr Shankar and it was garlanded by Mr.Kunchan, military commander of the Muttur division, sources said. Hero's Day celebration was inaugurated at the Maha Vidiyalayam Hall. A Maaveerar Parent lit the common flame of sacrifice and Mr.Thamilmaran, LTTE Muttur east political head, hoisted the Thamileelam national flag. Ms Vinothini, Deputy Head of the Thamileelam Police in Trincomalee district, unveiled the photographs of LTTE martyrs. Thereafter, parents and members of Tamil public garlanded the photographs of LTTE martyrs. Ms Vinothini later handed over the photograph of the LTTE leader Mr.V.Pirapaharan to the organizers of the celebration, sources said. Mr.S.Selvanayagam, Principal of Sampoor Maha Vidiyalayam, presided over the event.
