Seven suspects arrested in Judge's killing-IGP

Mr.Chandra Fernando, Inspector General of Police Saturday said at a press conference said the murder of Mr.Sarath Ambepitiya was a conspiracy by some criminals. Seven suspects arrested in this regard would be produced in court next week, he added.
Mr.Chandra Fernando said there was no involvement by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in the killing. The IGP held this press briefing to announce the progress the police have made in their investigation in identifying the culprits in the murder, which took place last week, police sources said. Meanwhile the National Police Commission (NPC) in consultation with the IGP announced on Friday a Judicial Security Division (JSD) would be set up to provide security to judges. The NPC has appointed a Director and four other senior officers to the JSD, according to NPC sources said.
