Children's Home gets Computer Training Center

A computer-training centre was opened in "Anbu Illam," a leading children's home in the heart of Trincomalee town to provide computer education to resident children, administrators of the home, the Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) officials said.

LTTE Trincomalee district political secretariat donated one computer and the TRO two to the newly opened centre. The home now is giving shelter to about 90 children, sources said.

Mr.S.Elilan, LTTE Trincomalee district political head declared open the centre, which is housed in a renovated portion of the Anbu Illam Friday, on the birthday of the leader of Liberation Tigers (LTTE) Mr.V.Pirapaharan.

North East Provincial Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Social Services Ministry Secretary Mr.V.P.Balasingham, TRO Trincomalee District Director Mr.Kiruba, Thamileelam Police Trincomalee district head Mr.Siranjeevi, TRO Trinco project officer Mr.V.Kalaiwarnan, TRP Trinco activist Mr.C.Kumarakuruparan, and Ms Siththithevi Pathmanathan, Chairperson of the Council of Management of the Home also participated in the event.

Anbu Illam was founded in 1985 to give shelter to children who lost their parents and breadwinners in the military operations launched by the government security forces. Currently Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) is administering the Children's Home on the courts order.
