Veteran Sea Tiger Lt.Colonel Maravan dies

Lt.Colonel Maravan (S.Stanislauss), a veteran cadre of the Sea Tigers division of the Liberation Tigers, passed away at the age of 68 at his residence in Mullaithivu on Saturday, and his body was brought to Jaffna Sunday afternoon through the Muhamalai army checkpoint for the people of the district to pay last respects, sources said.

His body was first kept for paying homage in his native area, Gurunagar-Navanthurai, and was taken to Delft Sunday night. The body of Lt.Colonel Maravan will be kept for last respects in Valigamam, Kudathanai in Vadamaradchchi east, Point Pedro and Valvettithurai Monday, sources said

Thereafter, his body would be taken again through Muhamalai army checkpoint to the LTTE controlled villages, Pooneryn, Mulankavil, Vellakulam, Semmalai in Manalaru area, Mullaitivu, Puddukudiruppu, Killinochchi and Thalaiyadi for paying last respects, sources said.

The body will be laid to rest at Uduthurai LTTE cemetery in the Vadamaradchchi East division, which is under the control of the LTTE, sources said.
